Fujian Benz Automotive Co., Ltd (“Fujian Benz”), founded in June 2007, with registered capital of 287 million Euros, is a joint venture co-invested by Daimler Vans Hong Kong Limited (50%), BAIC Motor Corporation Limited (35%), and Fujian Motor Industry Group Co., Ltd (15%). Fujian Benz is the Vans production base of Daimler AG in the Asian-Pacific region. The base in phase 1, with annual production capacity reaching 40,000 units, was put operation in April 2010.
Fujian Benz inherits the essence of Mercedes-Benz’s century-long car-manufacturing experience, introduces mid-to-high-end Mercedes-Benz Viano, Vito, Sprinter and V-Class, and offers customers a comfortable, practical, flexible and safe transportation solution, which is favored by mid-to-high-end customers. In order to better serve the customers, Fujian Benz has established nationwide sales and service network.
In 2013, Fujian Benz R&D Center with a total investment of 500 million RMB was officially put operation. As Daimler Group’s overseas R&D center for commercial vehicle, Fujian Benz R&D Center not only improves its product design and development capabilities，but also provides high-level support for more than 10 domestic and foreign automotive manufacturers such as Beijing Benz, Xiamen King Long, Geely and Chery, such as vehicle performance test.
In September 2016, BAIC Group invested in Fujian Benz. By integrating the technologies, products and sales network of BAIC Group and Daimler Group, Fujian Benz develops an important production base of Daimler Group in south China. Fujian Benz is expected to break through the restrictions and produces both commercial vehicle and passenger vehicle.
